QUANTUM MORTIS by Arkhaven Comics| Review
This is another comic by Alt-Right personality/Author Vox Day, and just like the previous I reviewed is just another analogy to spew is racist attitudes. Here is his synopsis on webtoons.com
Chief Warrant Officer Graven Tower is a ruggedly handsome military policeman who hates aliens. Fortunately, as a member of His Grace’s Military Crimes Investigation Division — Xenocriminology and Alien Relations, he gets to arrest a lot of them. Sometimes he even gets to shoot them. But while he doesn’t like aliens, Chief Tower does very much like Detector Derin Hildreth of the Trans Paradis Police Department. So when she wants in on a murder case, Tower is happy to oblige. Unlike his other title this is based on a Novel that Vox Day wrote. Here it is on Amazon
You can tell simply by the synopsis that is follows a racist Chief, in a futuristic setting. But this isn’t a review of the Novel this is a review of the Comic.
Just reading the first issue you can tell that Vox was inspired by Blade Runner & The Fifth Element You can tell in the first cell of the comic because the flying cars look eerily similar to the Spinners in Blade Runner it even begins with the same opening as the original film as a hover car flies through a futuristic city, with Chief speaking to his car. Just like Rick Deckard did at the start of the 1982 movie. Can say this Vox Day definatly does not hide his influences.
I’ve also noticed that Vox seems to think cockyness and arogance are admirable traits to his characters.
Also like Alt★Hero the artwork is horrible reminds me of the short three panel comics you get at the back of newspapers, now they aren’t all bad but this artwork is pretty terrible.
Also like Alt★Hero the dialogue is just as terrible the Chief seems to like to end most of his conversations with baby. This is way in the future but the lead character talks like he is from the 1940s. To be honest this is not unexpected Vox is one of those people who hold the Nuclear Family like the pinnacle of how a family should be.
This first issue as well nothing actually happens the lead character never actually gets out of his flying car he is only being asked to go from point A to point B. This is one of the worst first issues I’ve read of any comic, does not set up any normal story beats, like give an introduction to the world or characters work. What are the rules? Is this Character flawed? and why should we care. Vox is incapable of writing any stakes into literature I’ve read of his.
